DESIGNING, SEWING AND CLOTHING TECHNOLOGY
This is an occupation essential dealing with making women’s, men’s and children’s clothes. Embroidery and Interior Designing form a significant one as well.
- Designing is an art of creating original outfit embroidery articles and interior designs
- Sewing involves the process of dress making ,tailoring and garment alteration this involves basic and routine sewing
- Cloth Technology cover all aspects of fabrics. These involve Identification of fabric types, sources, characteristics, use and care, making of tie and dye material, Batik material, making prints and painted materials as well.
Skills and Competence
The student should develop the following competence (ability) after completion of the course
- Maintain occupational health and Safety rules and regulations
- Maintain Sewing equipment and tools
- Perform basic/ routine sewing
- Take body measurement
- Use commercial patterns
- Make block pattern
- Adopt and alter block patters to make patterns for different styles
- Perform pattern layout
- Cutting of materials and transfer pattern markings
- Construct cloth for different occasions
- Perform hand and machine embroidery
- Perform fashion designing
- Make Batik material
- Make prints on materials
- Perform fabric painting
- Design and make interior designs
- Manage workshop productions
